What is SideStripe?
SideStripe is a great new way to find and share information with your friends. Our search is a lot like Google, but rather than focusing on the worlds copious amounts of random information, we focus on information that is relevant to the searcher by putting a face behind the search result. That's right. Every search result is from someone that you know from your social network. You can trust the results because you know the source. You can use SideStripe in Facebook and on Google to improve your search experience.
How does it work?
The idea is simple. You sign up on your social network. You search. Any information that we have from your social network that is relevant to your search will appear in your search results. If there are no results, you can ask your network a question and create your own results. For example, let's say that you are looking for a good sushi restaurant. You type in "sushi restaurant" into your search. You will see reviews from your friends, recommended places to eat sushi, people that like sushi, and people that know about sushi. You can then ask your friends questions and get a recommendation that you can trust.
How do I sign up?
Signing up for SideStripe is easy. You sign up via your social network. This will give us access to your friends list, so that we know who we can tap to help you with your search. After you agree to our Terms of Service, enter your email address in (this is for our communication with you only - we promise not to spam you), and add your Google widget or bookmarking features if you desire, and you are up and running.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your data is very private and we will not share it with anyone outside of your network.
How do I search on SideStripe?
You can search SideStripe in a number of ways.
In Facebook you can go to our application and use it just like you would Google. Type in keywords and you will see search results.
On Google: if you have downloaded our widget, you will see results every time that you search (around the 4th search result you will see a box with our results, and can click more to see more search results from us).
How do share things with friends?
There are a number of ways to share information with friends.
You can:
Write a Review: By selecting the "Write a Review" link, you can share reviews of anything with friends.
Write a Note: Be selecting the "Write a Note" link on the right navigation, you can post a note that will be searchable by your network.
Bookmark a Link: To make a bookmark, drag the bookmark tool into your browsers toolbar. Once you are on a webpage that you want to share with someone, you can click on the Bookmark button in your toolbar, write a post about the selected link (the page that you are on will be automatically loaded into the bookmark app), rate the link, and then post it.
How do I ask a question?
Click on the link on the right side of the page and you will see the
Who will see my question?
Once you have posted a question to your network, it will be posted in your friends' Facebook feeds. If your friend clicks on the link they will be able to answer the question and give you the information that you request.
How will I know when my question is answered?
Once your question has been answered you will be sent a notification in email.
How do I edit my posts or questions?
To edit your posts, select the "Edit Post" link next to any of your posts.
